For anyone concerned about Hate Crime legislation here are a few points to consider:
1-Some Hate Crime laws can actually be used against Christians and other people of faith limiting religious liberty.
2-Criminalizing thought is a dangerous path for government.
3-There is not much evidence indicating Hate Crime laws actually deter hate crimes. Which leads to...
4-Passing such legislation can give the false impression we have achieved less hate.
47 States have passed some form of Hate Crime legislation... which means there are 47 different versions of Hate Crime legislation. If Arkansas is to join in, it needs to be done in a principled way, not infringing on the above concerns.
6. Conscience: Allowing healthcare professionals to opt out of non-emergency treatments and procedures that violate their deeply-held religious, moral, or ethical convictions.
